I have a Z740. I've read the manual, and done a little online searching. My question is this...is it possible to take it OUT of auto focus? I'm guessing not..but I saw someone say something that hinted that it might be possible. It's just IMPOSSIBLE to get good macro shots, since anything close enough to count just blurs, and the camera chooses to focus on something else, if anything at all..and that darned red AF starts flashing.
Help please!

Sorry I don't know much about that particular model but does it have a scene mode for macro or close ups? A lot of the Kodaks seem to have it built in (it's on my sons C310 and DX4530) and it does take clearer shots at close range. It might not be the best solution but it might help ...

thanks
Yes, it does. It has a "close up flowers" scene setting, and a seperate macro setting. Either way, if the camera is too close, or I zoom too far in, it will not focus. I learned today that it's just my stupidity...I can't take it out of autofocus, and there has to be a certain amount of space (more then I thought apparently) in order for focus to occur. The trick now is finding out the minimum amount. And it doesn't seem possible to get awesome macro shots like I've seen posted here and other places with this camera. For example, if I focus in on a bee sitting on a flower, so the bee is, lets say 1/10th the size of my LCD display area, the camera will not focus. Disappointing, but more incentive to upgrade some day, when my skill matches the money required to do so. lolThanks for your reply though!
