Has anyone got one of these yet?
Although they're hard to find around here (Qld, Aust) they are available online. I got my hands on one this week and, although I haven't had time to play with all the features yet, I am very happy with what I have used so far. The auto function is great for general shots and the colours are crisp and clear, and the built in scene functions are great when you don't have a lot of time to set the camera manually. I especially like the ability to stitch 3 shots together in the camera for a seamless panorama, it's so easy, and the macro setting gives pretty good results too. I know this isn't anywhere near as impressive as a digital SLR but with all modes available on it from auto through to manual and when you consider the the price tag, I think it's quite good. For someone who is over their point and shoot but doesn't have the $ needed for an SLR, I would highly recommend this model. I would be very interested to hear what you think ... |

i got this camera as a hand-me-down from my dad last october. i gotta say, i never thought i would enjoy photography. in fact, i never wanted to be the guy with the camera, but when i realized it takes 720p videos, i thought i might as well give it a try, see if i like it.
shortly afterwards, i realized im pretty passionate about photography. its a perfect camera to learn all the basic technique and to leanr how to use manual mode. i wish it had a better burst mode, time lapse, or that it could take RAW .. but we can't have it all!

I have the z1012, and i got to say it is an amzing camera ive had 3 or 4 previous point and shoots basically just for simple pictures. I strtaed to get into photography in the summer with an older model point and shoot, so i saved some money and i seen this thing on sale one day i took it home and i took about 500 picctures the first day, took a while to learn after that i was trying different things, angles, objects and now im quite pasisonate about it. it takes a great picture on auto mode. learn to use Aperature mode and manual mode and you can take some really nice pictures.
I also recommend Adobe Lightroom 2 which is amazing for editing your pictures so they look even better. I highly recommend it, check my Flickr in my signature. All my pictures have been taken with this camera
