Default Getting money to burn

I did this several months back as an experiment:

The shot was taken outdoors at night on a concreted area. I used a stainless steel tray on a terracotta flower pot (as a stand), a couple of handfuls of coins and a mixture of lamp oil and methylated spirits (I found this mixture gave a more yellow/blue flame). Under the coins I placed a thin sponge to retain the teaspoon of fluid to be burnt. The camera was positioned about 1.5m away on a tripod and a long exposure was taken using a remote shutter release. Before lighting everything up I shined a torch on the focal point I wanted and set the camera up. I then was ready for the shot.

D200, 70mm f/5.6, ISO100, 10 seconds

The main emphasis here is on safety. Don't use very much fluid, do this out doors, have a hose nearby, light the tray with a long taper. After you're done, spray everything with water to cool it down before touching anything.

One thing I'd like to try is use copper based coins but unfortunately we don't have any in circulation in Australia anymore. I suspect they may add a green tinge to the flame from any oxidisation.
