Smile reaching for the lens

Hey guys:

I just wanted to share an image i took the other month of a good friend of mine. I wanted to try something new and interesting:

IMG_4598

Here's the full set:

Joshua 'Jphoenix' shoot 5th November 2009 - a set on Flickr

How i took it:

It was on wide angle, so i got the subject and a nice chunk of the sky in the shot. I then had a Vivitar 3500 flash on a sync cable to camera left.

Exif data:

Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 17 mm

My experience with EOS 40D

* Nice heft and fits well in my hands - weight: EOS 40D 740g/26.1 oz. and EOS 3 780g/ 27.5 oz.
* Indentation on the handgrip wider than the EOS 3 for a better feel
* Shutter button not as soft as the button on the EOS 3 but effective
* 3 inch LCD screen very bright
* Menu system seemed very intuitive coming from the EOS 3
* Fast autofocus with my 24mm-70mm f/2.8 lens
