Lightbulb Soap Bubble planets

Bubble Planet

Here is the setup:
Bubble planets setup
The white thing on the right is a DIY softbox (cardboard box with plain white paper on the top and a hole in the bottom for flash). Note that it's slightly tilted over the cup with bubbles. The background was in this case my black t-shirt.

A few tips:
- prefocus on the cup and use remote shutter release to shoot, an assistant would be better
- experiment with the ratio of detergent and water to prolong life expectancy of your bubbles
- use small apertures (big f numbers) to maximize DOF

Thanks peeperita!

I forgot to mention, although it's obvious - blow the bubbles with a straw.

I used sigma 70-300 apo dg macro. I wish i had a lens with better macro capabilities, but with some cropping it turned out good.

Incredible simplistic idea! I love it! I might try this tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll post back here if I come up with something good.

Great shot ! It's given me some inspiration to have a go myself. I just wish that santa had brought the EF100mm F2.8L IS USM Macro lens I asked him for - perhaps I should have been good in 2009

This site never ceases to amaze me. What a simple but brilliant idea to do on a cold or wet day. Lovely shots and many thanks for sharing them with us.
