Default Reflections

So I know everyone takes reflection shots, they're too much fun and often too beautiful to pass up. This one, however, was a little bit different, and had it not been for a leaf floating in the creek that I wanted to shoot, I might not have caught this. I was looking for leaves floating because the shadows they were casting through the shallow water onto the creekbed made for cool effects. I saw one floating and moved to get a good angle on it when I stumbled upon this:

The sun was at the right angle to silhouette the tree and cast a long shadow. Because the sun was behind the tree, the shadow cast across the creek then provided a perfect canvas for the reflection, while the light coming from around the tree washed out the water and framed the reflection perfectly. The tree in the reflection is the same tree that is casting the shadow. One step either left and/or right and the shot was lost. I looked for other similar shadows/reflections, but the sun didn't hit perfectly anywhere else to cause the same effect. Right place, right time, I guess.

That is a really cool shot. I actually vocalized "wow" when I saw it.

Smile Very well Done

This is a great photo and is the exact image I need for my homework for class. Wish I could find such a shot here in the city. Once again well done
