Just clarifying.

Good, I would have to assume that anyone that was going to try this would actually READ what I wrote and not just look at the pictures.

If you READ my original post you'd see that my speed (doing the math) is 0.909 MPH, far cry from 30mph. Don't just look at the pictures and make assumptions based on how the pros do it. I'm not a pro and I'm quite safety conscious. Did you READ the part about my car not leaving my driveway?

I did actually. My point still stands though, others might not be so aware.

Ever wonder why there's a warning on your hair dryer about taking a bath with it?

Because some A-hole tried it.

Don't ever ride a bicycle. You might fall and skin your knee..

I never do anything dangerous, like sky diving or rock climbing... i mean, that activity is way too much fun.

I miss climbing.. i blew a tendon really bad during a comp a while back and it's just never been the same

Neat set up and great result arlon. I really want to try that. And I agree, there's nothing dangerous about what you've done at all. Thanks for the clear explanation and photo of your rig (even if it's not what they do at Car & Driver).

I've tried with the conduit and was pretty sucessful. I modifed some utility pole clamps to mount it to the trunk lid. The problem I ran into was too much flex. I am working on a modified set-up that uses a guide wire and a vertical support to keep flex and bounce to a minimum.

I use a Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote and my D90 set to remote activated timer. That way I'm not rushed to get the car moving before my timer runs out. Plus I can be in the shot and can look as I'm driving, not taking a picture. With a bit of trial and error, I got the shutter speed right so the car only had to roll, not speed, to get the shot.

I shoot my own cars and would probably not try it on someone elses car. I prefer bolting my rig to the car than trusting suction cups. I don't trust my D90 hanging off the side of a car, four feet from the ground, even if I am only rolling. I have insurance, but I also have a wife and a very small budget. "Accidents" are not an option.

I'll post some pics when I'm done with mods...
