Default slightly different light painting (still life)

My idea of light painting is to use a small flashlight to do something I couldn't do any other way. I set up my subject, set custom white balance to the flashlight and get after it. I posted a video of shooting the boots on youtube HERE for those that are more interested in trying this the video explains a lot.

Some of my other examples of flashlight work HERE.

I use small apertures to get a lot of depth of field and slow shutters to give me time to work the flash light. All of the following shots used a AA LED penlight for light. No flash..
Ocassionally a candle for effect.

Nice work. I have done some really basic stuff like this. Nothing this good. This encourages me to find some interesting subjects and give it another go. Thanks!

Those look great. And thanks for sharing the video. It was quite interesting. I take it it's a lot of trial and error getting just the right amount of lighting? Does it get easier figuring it out after a while?

Actually getting the light right was surprisingly easy.

Great technique, I have experimented with this method a few times with some nice results.

Default How to isolate the object though?

For example: what do you need to do get rid of the fabic around that watch (no offence here, but i really want the object itself, nothing else)

Great video tutorial, thanks for posting!

Now, I just have to get myself a nice LED flashlight and I'm off to the races!
