I'm still wondering how this shot came to be. This photo is just as it came out of my camera...Nikon D3, 400mm, F/9, 1/640th sec.
There was no flash, nor was there any direct sunlight on the flamingo, yet look at the glow in his eyes. I thought maybe this was inherent in a flamingo. Yet, after a search of the internet, I have yet to see another flamingo with similar features in its eyes. Probably my favorite wildlife photo... Thanks for looking.

That eye is crazy. I like this photo. Usually photos of flamingos focus on there coat. I like the red color to contrast the pink. Very interesting capture. Intense bird. Thanks for sharing nice capture.

I used to work somewhere that I had to take care of flamingos and yes, their eyes really look like that. I love birds, and I used to love flamingos until I worked with them. They make turkeys seem smart! Still, they're beautiful birds.
