Default My first pano

On my honeymoon, I took a series of 6 shots with the intention of creating a panorama. I shot in portrait, hand held, full manual. I shot in portrait to give more vertical in the image. I learned that when I attended a Rocky Mountain School of Photography weekend course.

When I got home, I did my usual edits, adjusting the clarity, vibrance and saturation in Lightroom. I then launched CS4 and using the built-in panorama feature, stiched the 6 shots together. I merged the 6 shots then color picked the sky and adjusted the levels. I did this quickly, at around midnight, and I know I missed a bit of the sky along the horizon.

Eventually, I'll go back in and fix everything, but right now I like it because it worked.

Wow! Looks great. I've always thought that panoramic photos required a tripod but your photo proves that it isn't completely necessary. Nicely done!

Yup, if you don't have anything nearby, you won't get much parallax error, and you can easily handhold a panorama's member images.

Quo Fan, that's a great first panorama!

.

I've done panos made up of up to 17 images without a tripod. A tripod can help if you want them all to be level, but sometimes jumping around can give you a good perspective and add sections to the pano you might have missed with a tripod.

Thumbs up

Excellent work. You have given me the urge to get out and do more panos.

Amazing, I never knew about that function before... I'm definetely going to try someday

Thanks for the inspiration though!

I've tried this with a tripod... uh. It's not that bad... Some focusing problems, well thats because I try at night, haha but eh... there's not much to take a panorama of.. too many trees all over the place... closest place i can get to is up on top of a hill before i get into los angeles... it's really high up so I can probably do a very wide and beautiful panorama of Los Angeles and the well-known LA stretch of buildings

I'm a little confused by this. Isn't portrait mode an auto mode?? How could it be done full manual if it was portrait? Do you mean you took vertical shots?

by the way, the clouds look amazing!!!!
