![]() A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way on Flickr - Photo Sharing! This shot was constructed by placing these little balls (which are normally in a vase) on a dinner plate. Shot was taken handheld using the camera's flash. To minimise the depth of field as much as possible, I used the the biggest aperture possible (smallest f-number) with the longest focal length available (105mm). About this Shot -------------------------- Camera: D90 Lens: 18-105mm VR kit lens Camera Mode: Aperture Priority Shutter Speed: 1/200 Aperture: f/5.6 ISO: 200 Tripod: No Flash: Yes Processing: - 1 x RAW exposures - Imported into Lightroom 2 - Temperature increased as the white balance wasn't quite correct - Clarity, vibrance and blacks increased to really bring out the colours - Some dust spot removal used to try and remove imperfections in the plate! - Saved out as Tiff and opened in Photoshop to resize / reduce noise / sharpen - Border also applied in Photoshop |

I have a question.
You said you saved it out as a TIF file and reopened it in Photoshop. I don't know if it does something different, but when I am done editing everything in RAW, I go ahead and click the OPEN button in the bottom-right and go ahead and edit from there and save it as a TIF file. Do you know if this produces different results such as compression or reduced quality? Also, is TIF the best file type to save for an uncompressed photo? Thanks! |

Thanks all for the kind comments, I'm glad I've inspired a few people to have a go at something similar. I was pretty pleased with the results considering that no fancy lighting setup was used.

It depends on what you mean by 'The Best'? I think that the TIF is the best uncompressed format for retaining as much data as possible and giving you more to play with at the processing stage, but I would be happy to be proved wrong by more knowledgeable people I hope that helps Gordon (gpics07) |
