Default Gimp question

Anyone have instructions for Gimp? I've created the duplicate layer but can't find "Surface Blur" anywhere. Is this a plug-in I would have to install?

Well with Gimp... I do not know. Surface blur is with PS. Filters>Blurs>Surface blur

Awesome! You have wicked cool eyes, by the way. I'd like to know how you did this as well.

Never mind. I found a tutorial for PS Elements and Gimp basically follows the same principles. They use "Gaussian Blur" as opposed to "Surface Blur."

Amazing shot, I just started a 365 Project and I am definitely going to try and recreate this one!

I appreciate the creative thinking that guided your choices with this photo as much as I appreciate the final result. Technically, it is well done--composition, lighting, proper exposure. These things, however, take a back seat to the feel and the sense of "you-ness" you achieved.
