That is to cool Arlon. I'm going to have to try that. I live in Houston also and I don't think I could set that up in my garage without melting. I'll have to find somewhere else in the house to do it.

This a very cool thread! As for breakdown, you don't have to glue any of the PVC setups. They fit tight enough that you can glue the ones that need glueing, and just "fit" the ones that you need to, to make it break down.
On this pic, I used a glass baking dish, a black felt backdrop, and 2 500 watt work lights in my garage. The red coloring came from a shirt that I put down under the pan. I don't think it came out too bad for a P&S camera. But I couldn't get any closer because of focus issues. LOL

I bought felt because I thought it wouldn't reflect, but I don't think that worked out too well. Learning as I go! LOL

Any other tips out there on doing a "studio" shot on the cheap? Bound to be some more ideas we haven't seen yet. (-:}

Default Nice Portrait--great ideas

Nice photo--I'm nervous about shooting a portrait of two band members at a March Fourth concert this weekend in Aspen, and you're DIY setup gives me inspiration. Thanks.
