great look at how to use bokeh in different ways, can't wait to give it a try... I have found that bokeh is sometimes an illusive thing, when I try, it doesn't show up, when I don't, it's there. Works best on my 70-200 @ 2.8 but I want to get a hold of the nikon 85mm 1.4, that looks like the bokeh dream.

Here are my two attempts.
It took awhile to get the distance right from the subject and the christmas lights. I also had trouble getting the punch centered but I finally got it. I would probably find a fun way to set up the lights in the background to make it more interesting. I added textures to the bottom one. ![]()

Very cute! I can't wait to try myself.. But I'm trying to practice working on my bokeh as wulf suggested. It's still confusing to me at times since I'm new to dslr. Great work everyone!

That is sooo kool!
Please excuse my ignorance... but... what's the trick in getting so many little leaves, hearts etc. positioned in one frame? and the various colors, sizes & the veins in the leaf? Is it by using photoshop or what-have-you? I imagine it would be a long slow process! Thanx for sharing ninnyb |

Hi ninnyb, go back and have a look at the first post in this thread for examples/explanation.

I am having trouble with getting enough light on the main subject. Amy-Rose, what other lighting did you use besides the Christmas lights? Since I was at f/1.8, I had to "trick" my camera on manual mode and use shutter speed 1/50, which told me I was underexposed, but when I used a longer exposure to satisfy the camera's metering system, the picture was overexposed. I looked at your EXIF data and copied what you did for the shutter speed.
