I'm ashamed to say that I was one of these people until last year maybe
but now I'm proud of the photos with my little point and shot camera
because I can understand a little bit about the art of photography.

Here is some of mine , I did not buy a DSLR camera yet but when I feel that I can present a message through my photography I won't hesitate to buy one.

Default Macros with P&S

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. Here's my take on this subject. I love taking picture, lol like everyone else here , but I would have to agree 100%. I took this picture with a Kodak Easyshare C875

Default Powershot SX120

I agree, your creativity and your eyes are in your head, not in your camera.
These three were taken with a Powershot SX120 (which I would never recommend to anyone but a battery-manufacturer)

Bus station in Iran:

Shot from a train window in Turkey:

The Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. Not really P&S, since I had a really small tripod to use here:

Having said this, I do love the sound and feel of my dSLR snapping away

Now I'll admit, DSLRS have more bokeh, they have better ISO performance, they have more dynamic range, shoot faster, better accessories, flash options, the list is endless.

But at the end of the day it still comes down to taking an interesting picture, and I firmly believe that if you can't take one with a point and shoot, none of the bells and whistles on that expensive DSLR will do you any good. If I shot in all auto mode, I'd actually take WORSE pictures as my D80 meter is terrible compared to that on my Canon point and shoot.

All I did to take this shot was stick it on macro mode and get close.

I'm sure other people here can relate? If anyone has any nice shots by point and shoot I'd love to see them. I need someone to forward to the next person who tells me their pictures "Suck because Sony makes crappy cameras."
What's worse.. I have a new 60d and I took some free shots of family at the beach, sunset behind them. flash did not fire in some of the pictures which left them underexposed.. tried to fix in PS elements but left the photos very grainy.. my mother-in-law said "i thought that was the whole point in you getting a new camera. I just imagined those lovely pictures like you'd see in a hotel lobby.." and on and on she went.. I thought I was my own worse critic!! anyways, yep, I didn't know how to properly shoot with backlighting, but she acts like the camera itself could take the pictures.. oh well..
