Default Lighter than air revolver

I took this shot as a gag - Smith & Wesson advertises its "Airweight" revolvers that are indeed very lightweight using space age metals. I thought I'd go them one better with a revolver that's actually lighter than air. Here's the picture:

I posted this on April 1 on the Smith & Wesson forum, and some actually bought the concept!

In actuality, I suspended the little revolver by threads from overhead hooks, and then photoshopped the threads out of the picture. Some suspected I tossed the gun in the air and then used high speed photography, but this was a lot simpler with no chance of damage to the gun. I used a Pentax K200D with a Pentax 18-55 lens set to 35mm, ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/250 sec, manual exposure. I wanted limited depth of field to accentuate and isolate the subject.

nice work.
you should resize the pic to follow forum guidelines...as it is now advertising ribbons cut into the image and your text.

Sorry about that - re-posted with a smaller picture - I hope that works.

Pretty cool -
I like that you actually suspended it and not just photo shop it into a picture.

Very neat. You can see a bit of sting I think at the end of the gun that you may have missed but it's probably a trick of light. Very believeable!

Love the concept and the subject comes out very well! It does deliver your message.

The background on the other hand is not appealing. I'd be hard pressed to provide a better idea, but the backyard look doesn't work for me. Maybe a shooting range? A silhouette target in an out of focus dark background? That would also make you work a bit on lighting. I think it's well lit for this scene, but a more staged shot, perhaps in a studio, would have demanded more directional lighting techniques to take it to "the next level".

(comments from a very raw newbie, just judging with my eye not in depth knowledge)
