Default Avedon Style Portrait

I received as assignment to do a portrait similar to the style of Richard Avedon, after we watched a video in my photography class on how he took portraits and his life. This is my friend Rissa who has a few sweet tattoos one of which you can see which I thought would add to the picture

This is the before picture

taken with her on a white background taken at f22 which was more depth than it really needed shutter at 1/50 which created some motion blur issues in some of the other shots but not this one. It did give it a slightly softer effect though. If I was going to take them again I would prolly used f11 or f16 and a slightly faster shutter. The white got slightly blown out

This is the picture I turned in for class

The entire rest of the white background is photoshopped in. The class is for graphic designers so there was an influence on that portion of editing. It would be nice to have a bigger better backdrop but on a college student budget it served its purpose!

I really like the way they turned out. I have several more floating around on my computer but this was my favorite of them

Very well done. Black and White is under used in portrait photography.

Thank you! I feel like black and white gets overused in some cases and certainly underutilized in others! In this case I feel that it added to the portrait immensely!
