Default In the clouds

Hi, I am new to DPS and to photograph, I just purchased a Canon EOS XS kit about 5months ago. Here is one of my first photos. I took this picture on the automatic setting.
I was in my backyard and I turned around and saw these extraordinary clouds over my house.

You got good results using the "Auto" setting on your camera. Most of the time you have to tweak the settings manually to get results that look this good. When I first got my Canon, I would take 1 shot on "Auto" and then take a few more with different manual settings to see which I liked better. It's a great way to learn your camea's functions. Welcome to DPS. I'm sure you will enjoy learning all the wonderful things that you can accomplish with your camera.

I love that shot! Did you get any without the tree? Or some with more of the tree tops?

I'm a novice myself and new to this site.

Wow,

Great capture and welcome to DPS.

The clouds almost look like the smoke coming out of a volcano.
