I took this shot during a walk through a wooded area on Staten Island, NY. I was out to find some shots of the fall colors when I spotted this and was interested in the lamps and the perspective of them getting smaller in the distance.
When I looked at it on my computer screen, I thought it reminded me of a postcard from the first half of the 20th century. I increased the contrast a bit in Photoshop and then desaturated it until I had the look I wanted. ![]() Aperture: f/14 Focal length: 45 mm ISO: 100 Shutter: 1/30 sec Camera; Nikon D3100 ©2011, Mark L. I'm sorry, but the photo does nothing for me. There's too much busy-ness with all the trees. Could I suggest that next time try and get closer to the first pole, and looked along them more, the poles would appear closer together, and you would get more poles in the frame creating a better 'line' of poles. I don't feel as though the poles are leading me through the photo. I hope that helps.

I agree. The second photo (the pier) is much better and makes me feel as though I'm moving through the photo. Good capture!

I'd be curious to find out why you chose f/14 and 1/30th for the first image. THe scene itself is very busy, but those settings are suspect, especially with the overexposure present
