How to Make a Homemade Beauty Dish

We all know photogear can be expensive. I scoured the net for ideas on making a beauty dish. I came up with one that's light and very durable. Was the effort worth it?


The above picture was taken with my Canon Powershot G11 with a 580EX Speedlite triggered off-camera using my homemade beauty dish.

It was a fun Do-It-Yourself project. All you need is:

• a plastic salad bowl
  
• a rain gutter part from hardware store
  
• a can of white spray paint
  
• a CD/DVD cake container

The design is quite simple and actually can be adapted and that's what makes it fun.
