I was actually shooting heritage buildings for a local contest, one of the buildings has a garden and I wanted to try a shot from the perspective in the garden, and right smack in the middle was this sundial. I thought it was really neat and I had to have it immortalized in photo. I have a soft spot in my heart for B&W photos, I feel they can tell more of a story, I'm not opposed to shooting color, I just like B&W more. When I do B&W and I'm after an antique, sometimes when I'm not even, I love adding vignette, I don't know, I just like vignettes LOL.

Post-Processing notes: I use Adobe Lightroom 3 to process my RAW files. Set this one to B&W to start with. I increased the exposure by about 1.5 stops to compensate for increasing the blacks and contrast of the image. The curves had only slight tweaks done, the lights a little lighter, the darks a little darker. No cropping was done to this image. TO finish it off I added a post-crop (without the crop lol) vignette, sealed it into a tif and sent it to PS to get its owner info.
