![]() Camera Canon EOS REBEL T2i Exposure 0.005 sec (1/200) Aperture f/4.0 Focal Length 100 mm ISO Speed 200 Exposure Bias -2/3 EV Flash Off, Did not fire Pre-Edited version, straight out of camera: ![]() Same EXIF obviously. This is actually a friend of the model I was shooting, but she did pretty well! My friend actually scheduled this shoot and I asked to be invited along so I could learn from him, and I learned a lot! I found that with fashion shots, you want to be confrontational and unexpected so you end up throwing a lot of "rules" out the window when it comes to composition, but i the end one rule I stuck to was making sure there was something interesting that added to the image other than the model. We found a bunch of great brick and old doors in the town we were shooting (Stillwater, MN), but I was really drawn to this image with the glass brick. To get this expression I instructed the model look down at the ground and then back up at me with interested eyes and a subtle smile. I think it turned out well and really sells the shot. For post production I edited the lighting using brightness/contrast, curves, levels, channels, color correction, and hue/saturation. I fixed minor blemishes and shadows using the heal tool, clone brush, and patch tool. What do you think? Questions or criticisms? I'm all ears! |

Hmmm sorry, I prefer the original myself ... in the original the black material has some lovely folds in the material which have been edited into a shapeless black blob, I would have edited to make these folds more apparent

Model looks great and I liked the editing - not sure if I'm wild about the arms getting cut off so much though for that particular pose. My first thought was "She's pretty decent looking". My second thought was, "what are her arms doing?".

I like her expression, I think you did a good job getting that out of her. I have to agree that they way her arms are cut off is distracting. I personally love urban shooting and am always on the look out for an interesting walls that will add drama to the shot.

+1 I also have a problem with the arms/hands cut off. Too bad you couldn't have worked them into the pose some way. Otherwise nice

Great edit!! It looks tons better than SOOC. I do agree that it would be better if her arms weren't cut off, but it's still a great pic. Nice work...

Thanks for the feedback everyone, yes I wish I wouldn't have cropped the hands out when framing the image, but it was the best from that series with the glass brick. I personally prefer the dress a little bit darker but that just comes down to preference I think. I hope it inspired you to find a model and get out and shoot some fashion!

You could have showed the hands as its creating a curiosity in the eyes of the viewer. Its making it incomplete. The model really did good with the look and the attitude ! folds of the dress could have been better, its looking a bit messy at the bottom !
rest its a lovely shot
