Below u'll find 2 tents that stand in the middle of nowhere.
this pic was shot at taman negara, malaysia. in the camp the only source of light was a camp fire. I shot this pic with artificial lighting only. I put a torch in every tent. then becos low light my exposure was set at +3. the shuuter speed was 30 seconds. the rest is jus what the location boasted of itself. Cam:Nikon D5100 Lens-18-105mm(this pic was shot at roughly 18mm) F-Stop:f/3.5 shutter speed: 30seconds exposure:+3 no flash love to hear comments from u guys...... |

I think this needs to be moved to Landscape Critique? Maybe not...
Anyway, I'd say, if it were me, I'd like to have been at a higher angle. I like the picture the way it is, but as travelpat said...it doesn't convey 'middle of nowhere' much.

mayabe shoot from further back so that you have more of the surroundings around the tents to give them a more isolated feel. also i would consider shooting this shot in HDR so you could get more of the background and night sky to pop...my $0.02

Well one hundred views and no comments should tell you a couple of things. One, you may have posted it into the wrong sub-forum. It should be in Landscape critique.
Two, It isn't a distinctive image and does not convey what you wanted it to. The title being what it is. So, do not be dismayed at the lack of comments, as most people who come in here do so to see how it was done not to tell you what you may have done differently. Jim |

My 2 cents....
I like your idea with putting torches in the tents to light them up. Have done this myself with candles in windows. Between the torches and the firelight you've created some good "mood lighting". However as already mentioned, I don't really get the middle of nowhere feel from this scene - you're too close to the tents. A wider angle shot, making the tents smaller probably would've helped. The other thing that really bothers me is the angle the tents are on. As someone who has pitched and slept in a LOT of tents the ground looks very sloping to me. Was it really this angle? Or has the camera tilted? Either way it would look more comfortable if the tents were a little more level, especially the one on the right. The background is sufficiently dark that you could get away with a bit of straightening even if what you have is a true reflection of the slope of the ground.
