That is all photoshop.
You cannot get shots like without it unless you have some serious studio equipment. Really you can try with some large pieces of colored plexiglass.

you dont need big dollar gear, look on ebay for cheap flash units, make a beauty dish, practice and experiment with backdrops, natural, paper, material

Meh...
I saw one of the backgrounds and remember my third GIMP just making fun of an admin. Gimp is free. ![]() And this one taken with a very very old and beat up point-and-shoot along with my phones light. ![]() True Mask by phoenix_jackson2002, on Flickr So yeah. They can be done cheap. But with the ones posted above shows nothing can beat actual photographic technique. |

Hi Smagoli,
My advice would be to look in the eyes (or the glasses in some of your pictures!) This way you can see where the light was and get some idea about they type of lighting used. For instance, it looks like a couple of your examples were taken with one big soft light on the subject (perhaps a window). To practice because you can get your subject to tilt until you have the effect you want, and copy what you see in the photographs. Once you have that part sorted you can see what you can do with the background. A couple of your examples have a light shining onto a background just behind the person. Hope that helps!
