Default Lightning over NYC

Mounted the camera on a tripod
- ISO - 200
- Aperture F16
- Shutter speed: Bulb (I used a remote release to trigger the shutter)

Using live view I zoomed into the Empire State Building to make sure that the focusing was accurate.

I opened the shutter when the lightning started in the right half of the frame and completed the 8 second exposure to capture the image below.

For those of you looking to capture lightning - do not be frustrated. Patience is the key. I have tried this numerous times before and failed. Even this time this was one successful shot. I must have taken at least 20 others that did not turn out well, in a 2 hour window

Looks great, lightning is so tough to capture.

Especially tough to capture when, like us, you only get a good storm every 10 years or more.
