Talking 4th of july fireworks from Lahaina, Hawaii

Set up my gear around 1/2 mile or so away from the 4th of july fireworks show in Lahaina , Maui. I had previously read the 'How to' on fireworks so i decided to give it a shot!

I was varying my exposure time from 7 - 17 seconds. All shots were at 100 ISO, and with a steady tripod.

The first shot was from my Canon telephoto @ 163mm / f9. / 17 sec

The second shot was shot @ 135mm / f9 / 9 sec

the 3rd shot was created using sparklers with a 10 second exposure on a 2 sec timer.

end result: i was pretty happy with the shots but was hoping for more stray light from the fireworks to light up town a little more! timing is everything with these long exposures!

let me know what ya think!

aloha
