Default Intentional Camera Movement

This shot has very little post processing, and I went out specifically to create an abstract "painted" image after seeing an article about a guy called Chris Friel who does a lot of this kind of thing (Flickr: chrisfriel's Photostream if your interested).

Anyway, here is my attempt. It is of the last remains of rape in a field near by where I live. I took the shot with a 2 stop ND filter and moved the camera trying to create brush strokes during the long exposure.

Some people just dont get this kind of thing, but I'm pretty happy with how one or two turned out:

Last Patch of Rape

In hindsight, I should have dropped the ISO and increased the aperture, but for this kind of photography, I guess these things matter less - and I'm still testing the water... Anyway here's the settings:

Camera Nikon D300
Exposure 0.3
Aperture f/32.0
Focal Length 70 mm
Focal Length 71.3 mm
ISO Speed 400

That's very neat Steve! Like you mentioned it's very abstract and I can imagine some really creative stuff with ICM. Of course abstract is not everyone's cup of tea, but do what makes you happy.

Very nicely done.

I love this technique and use it a lot when I want to emphasize color rather than the form of an image. Some examples of mine: Abstract | Invisible Green Photography

It is a very very interesting technique and your photo is a fine example Steve!
I 've tried it myself only once and was pleased with the results...
