What would you like help with? If you are after critique for a photograph, post in the Critique section under the appropraite subject, ask particular questions and supply the EXIF data along with your photograph. (Reading the rules is somewhat helpful to newbies).

OK what you do is post any camera settings that you used and then maybe how you decided on that composition, what kind of strategies you used to get the photo that you got. That way it gives people a good idea on how to get a similar photo using their camera

Grab yourself a Tiffen neutral Density filter. This will allow for a 'milky' almost fantasy look to your waterfalls. Although not for everyone, I love the look it produces.

As I look at it - it reminds me of the 18th century painting of the ocean by Hokusai. Very different from what I like to shoot. It is very interesting and pretty cool.

Thanks to all the critiques, I guess I was just too anxious to get a post out there and kinda by passed the important stuff; I will definitely read rules and keep posting.............in the right section.

Hey Gary,

If you are going for the flowing effect of water, you will need to slow your shutter speed. Try shooting in the shutter priority setting on your camera if you are using a DSLR. As Paul mentions above, a neutral density filter will enable you to do this in sunlight. Some of my best waterfalls have been shot stacking a polarizing filter and a ND filter in bright sunlight at 5-10 second shutter speed. Try your shot again with a polarizing filter or ND filter and slow your shutter speed down a lot. Keep at it until you are happy. That is the only measure of success in your photography.
