Default Lighting Diagram - Sarah

This session was a fun one. The shot you see here in the post was taken on her kitchen table in a space of about 6×6 at most.

We had Sarah climb up on to her kitchen table for this shot. It provided a nice height for shooting and with the limited space we were working in,I didn’t want the light to spill all over the black background. So, I used a 12×50 Westcott Stripbox to light the scene. The box was on a boom, if you do not own a boom, I highly suggest you invest in one. They really come in handy when you need the light out of your way. Being on the boom this allowed me to direct the light on to Sarah and her baby without throwing a ton of light on the background, if any. I love the Westcott strip boxes, well worth the money invested.

Back to the limited space, in order to have both mother and daughter in focus I shot this @ F/11 with the Sigma 50mm F/1.4 lens. Everything is in focus and sharp.

Thanks for looking.

Gorgeous shot with a very simple lighting set up. Just goes to show what you can do with just one light carefully positioned. My only criticism is that I would have liked to have seen more of the baby's face - but very well exposed otherwise.

+ 1 a beautiful shot. I'd have liked to have seen the baby looking back at Mum but thats a minor detail. TFS.

Very nice portrait. Is it 18mm? for some reason it looks really wide angle.
