Default Lily by Torch Light

I was looking through the forum today and came across a thread by the amazing Arlon about painting with light, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Lily by Torchlight

I set my camera at ISO 100 with a 20 second exposure and at f 13. I turned off all the lights and clicked the shutter. Then I simply shone a torch on the lily, moving it around (as Arlon explains in his video), lingering for longer on the parts of the flower I wanted the brightest.

I'm not overjoyed with it as I think it's over exposed, but I don't think it's too shabby for a first attempt! If I could do it again I would do one or all of the following:

(a) use a smaller torch, as this one was about 3 inches in diameter
(b) faster shutter speed
(c) higher f number

(I hope I'm correct with that advice...unfortunately the batteries in the torch died so I can't try it out tonight.)

Anyway....give it a go.....it was fun!

I think it's a wonderful shot... What would happen if you shine the torch from behind the lily, I wonder if the translucency would show thru...

Hindra - Hmmm. I don't know. I think I'll have to try that.

I tried the same but could not get the same result.
When ever I throw light few of the light goes to the base and base light ups.

How to handle that. I can remove that from Photoshop but is there any other solution
