That's a very creative, and good, first attempt.

Very good, but take two shots...using tripod. One with mug, then one without, then use PS to merge the two and mask the back of the mug edge to have the lights appear to be coming from within the mug. Gives me an idea to try at home.

very nice shot, I want to try bokeh myself, but couldn't get it to work the other day I tried. I have got zoom lens. I think I need to increase the distance between lights and my subject. will give it another try this weekend again.

Thanks Sandlife for the tip to make it more interesting.....

I really like the effects in this photo and I don't want to sound stupid but I see a lot about "bokeh" shots and guess I don't understand what that means. Can someone explain what this is about?

Bokeh literally translates to " Blurry light". Bokeh is the small little circles of light in the photo above, though using filters it can be a multitude of shapes sizes, etc. If you're asking on how to achieve it, try using a low aperture, so you focus on the foremost subject. Make sure to have some type of lighting in the back, which will be out of focus, and thus create the small circles.

Hope that helps!

As for the shot: Stunning! Great work.
