Default The Ghost Car

In this image the sky was just incredible and I had this cool idea "Hey Michele, can you drive the car left and right as long as nobody is coming and I'll grab a killer frame" Well, it worked out great and she road the brake as well, which added another light and more streaking red lines.

I used the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 17-40 f/4 L @ 35mm, Tri-pod, and I really wanted the longest shutter speed possible with the equipment I had on hand. In this case, the camera, lens and no filters. No big deal though, I stopped it all the way down to f/20, and also set my ISO to 50 which is a nice feature!! That yielded me a shutter speed of 20 Seconds and a really cool exposure.

Best,
Jay

That is just awesome.
I'm curious how you had a 20 sec exposure and the sky was just blown out? Especially with no filters.

Awesome shot.

I'm curious as to the car. Those must be some bright taillights, probably LEDs I am guessing.

It was pretty dark out? 20 seconds was a normal exposure as you can see the street is still pretty much black. The sky did not look as bright to the naked eye, but 20 seconds really made it glow, and made the bottom right of the sky almost blown out.

Hi Jay,
This a fantastic shot. The continous flow of the tail lights looks almost like you caught hot lava flowing from an erupting volcano! I like the sky. Great job!

Great shot, the sunset on its own would've been a great shot but I love the tail lights. Thanks for sharing what you did to get this shot
