Ive seen others photos where they fire a pellet into a water balloon. I assume their setup may be similar other than this setup is maybe a bit less sophisticated?

Great fun. Someday I'm going to have to try this. Thanks for the info!

Hi 'Edsport': it was a small plastic cup.

1. The delay between sound detection and the shutter openning is about 70 milliseconds, which is way too long for most photos of this type. In most cases, the action happens in the first 10-20 milliseconds for projectiles (bullets, pellets, etc) and less than 10 milliseconds for balloons popping. You should be triggering the flash, not the shutter on the camera. There is virtually no delay when triggering the flash.
2. You really need an adjustable time delay circuit for this type of photography. Most action doesn't happen at the time the sound occurs...it happens a few milliseconds later. Check out HiViz.com: Learn High Speed Photography for a cheap DIY kit, or Cognisys - Home Page for a good commercial unit.
3. Do not use the Canon wireless system for this type of photography. The system will actually flash twice...a low-light preflash and then the regular flash. The pre-flash will cause ghosting in your images. If you're going to go wireless, use some cheap e-bay triggers or Pocket Wizards.
Many thanks for your comment, in fact i am looking for a cheap camera to use it as a flash trigger, I will convert the wires from the remote shutter to the flash. I will post my result then.

I dunno about you, but this would be the ultimate remote. Imagine "Clap On Clap Off" shutter controls.

When you want to take the photo, simply clap!
