Hi,
Not a 'How I took it' thread, rather a 'How should I take it'. I would be going for my first proper shoot with a friend who wants to have his car photographed. I searched the forums for an existing thread but dPS search isn't very helpful. Would love some tips on shooting cars. Any kind of tip is appreciated. If it helps, its a white Honda City. |

I would say to watch your angle obviously, cars are quite reflective so make sure not to capture yourself unless your really going for that, but since it's about his car I would exclude your reflections. Likewise make sure there are no distractions or odd things being reflected when you photogragh. Capture the essence of the body lines and the things that distinguish the car form other cars. I shoot my car and others at Import shows (mostly Jap imports, mines a 91 Honda CRX Si). Do some motion shots if you feel comfortable. You don't have to be doing 80 to capture the car looking like its going that fast but it does take a steady hand. GL with your shoot and I'd really like to see what you come up with!

I'm always shooting my car & I did a car shoot for a car club when I was first starting with photography. I did the shoot on the roof of a parking garage and in a parking lot. The above member made some good suggestions, I had a filter attatched to my lense that I could turn to get rid of glares in the windshield but if you don't have that just make sure not to park under tree's or anything that will give a direct glare. Get down low and shoot at cool angles, just have fun with it!
