Stars on Earth

I recently visited a tidal mill located in the Ria Formosa, Algarve and noticed how the sun was producing these fascinating "stars" on the fast flowing water. To be honest, I was not sure how to expose this to get the shot I was looking for. In the end, I used my exposure meter to obtain an incident (light falling on the subject) reading. Once in PS, I was able to tweak the contrast a little to create the celestial effect.

Thanks for your very nice comment. I know it is not a "great" picture but I was interested in trying to create the image and yes PS did play a part. Maybe a shot like this could be used as a texture layer within another image??

Were the star shapes naturally occurring? (As opposed to a filter?)

If it could be done subtly enough it would be cool to make a recognisable constellation using these in Photoshop.

Yes, this was shot with no filter at all. It was a very bright, sunny, afternoon and the star like effects are of the sun catching the crest on a wave.

Now that is something for us all to think about. I suppose it would be possible to move some of the stars to create known constellations, but this is as shot. Thanks for the comment.
