Default My Version Of A Camera Lens

So I got bored and decided to take some pictures. I took a bunch and then decided to take a picture of my lens. (I always think pics of lenses are fun.) So I put my camera up to the mirror, and the light was way too bad to get a picture, so my solution was a flashlight. But then I decided to try something else; I shined (or is it shown...) the light very close to the mirror, and shot the camera right up on it---and this!
Camera Lens
Exif/Detailed How I Took It:
Camera: Nikon Coolpix L100
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/439)
Aperture: f/4.7
Focal Length: 19 mm
ISO Speed: 116
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Auto, Did not fire
X-Resolution: 96 dpi
Y-Resolution: 96 dpi
Software: GIMP 2.6.6
On Gimp I did some Dodge/Burn work and contrast adjustments, but mose of the coloring and light/shadow is straight from the camera. (And no, my lens is not that dirty, it's the flashlight!)

So What You Need:
  • Camera With Lens
  • Mirror
  • LARGE flashlight
  • Above Settings (Though they may be different with your camera)

Tell me what you think and show me your results! I needed to share with some photographers; I showed it to my friends and they were like, "What is that?!"

Very cool!

If you didn't say what it was, I'd assume it was looking straight into a flashlight or a metallic light fixture... looks like a bulb in the middle.

I've been meaning to put some effort into photographing lenses, the multicolored reflections off the internal elements make for some potentially neat abstract shots.

Yes, it does sort of. But then the rings around the bulb-looking thing are like the center of your lens. It's a very fun project to try.
