Default Cloudy River

Finally got round to trying out the ND filters I bought for £cheap from Ebay at the weekend and this was the best result.

I stacked my ND2, ND4 and ND8 filters, shut down the aperture as far as I could and added 2 stops of exposure compensation to give a nice long exposure. Then I found an appropriate spot on the riverbank, popped my camera on the tripod and took the shot.

Cloudy River

Comments and critique welcome.

I do like the photo, its very dreamy. Although it is a little dark and feel it would benefit from bringing the exposure up a little in paint shop or lightroom.

On the whole nicely done and enjoy playing with your new filters :0)

Beautiful image, the water looks so nice and smooth. I agree with Michael though about maybe bumping up the exposure a little to bring some more light in, great job though and thanks for sharing.

I half agree on it being a bit too dark, that was my first impression.

But part of me also likes moody dark shots. Maybe too dark for normal standards, but there's still something to be said about exposures like this. And it also looked better when I went to the flickr page and clicked the zoom button. It looks better in the larger size, where the black doesn't seem to swallow up the lighter areas as much, plus seeing it with the black background helps.

Either way, very cool.

Thanks for all the comments.

I agree that it's a little dark but I think that's just down to my inexperience with the NDs - I should have probably left off the ND2 and allowed a little more light in. Will try again soon and post the results.

IT is a little dark but i think that gives it character. But that is just my opinion.

This is what I was thinking, but lacked the eloquence to put into words.

I too like the fact that it's dark. I love this shot. Nice work. Well worth the purchase of your new filters!
