How do I setup for this type of picture?

Hey, im new to this forum, and wonder if u guys could help me out with a tutorial.

How do I capture this kind of picture? What equipment do I need? How do I setup the light? etc...

A single snooted light.
To finish off your image you would convert to B&W and punch up the contrast and increase the black point.

The light is set high and slightly to the right. This may have been taken on stage where there are a lot of lights but the lighting could be duplicated with a single light and a softbox. The background has been photoshopped but placing your subjects a good distance from a solid background should give you something similar. Much of the power of this image derives from the fact that it is high contrast and low key both of which can be accuentuated in PP.

Few people do onelight better than Zack Arias. Check out this short video ad for his workshop and see what he does with a single light setup.

There may be a light on the background to help separate it from subjects, but it's very subtle and wouldn't have to be there.
