Default I love how this came out...

I do a lot of live events as they are my favorite thing to shoot. I've taken some the past few years that came out similar to this one but, this one is my favorite. I always try to anticipate the lighting. I try and get shots when blue lights are dominant as they tend to look best to the eye as opposed to yellow or green lights. But, I like it when there are those times when the subject is alone in one spotlight with (ideally) a very dark background.

Below is a shot of Jon Pousette-Dart I took last week. I was ready when I saw the lights go down and his arm come up. When doing PP work I saw I had enough of a black background to "content fill" with Photoshop CS5. Minimal stuff really but, what really helped was Jon wearing all black. The red colored guitar cord was the icing on the cake. It really pops out here.

Me? I love how it came out. Welcome any comments/suggestions.

Looks really nice. Only change I would have made is get the subject off-center.

Agreed. I actually have a crop of it like that. Cropped just behind him tight and the empty space before him.

I would love this shot in a vertical frame. Also it looking too centered. Nice shot otherwise. I love the lens you're using.
