This is a picture of the Red White and Boom fireworks display in Columbus, Ohio. The Grand Finale. This was done simply by setting my camera on a relatively small aperture (since it is dark and you want a long exposure) and a long exposure. I used bulb, where I can control how long the shutter is opened. This way, since the fireworks are bright enough, and the aperture is closed enough, and it is dark out, I can pretty much have the shutter opened for as long as I need. For this picture, the shutter was opened for 8.3 seconds with the aperture set at f/10. The closed aperture also helps to get a good depth of field (even though the main subject is the fireworks). The camera I used is a Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm AF VR lens, set at a focal length of 24mm. Questions? Leave a comment with them.

Photo is amazing, one thing that bugged me but I'm picky is that you can see reflections ?
This is a side thing, anyone know if using a polarising filter would effect the imagine, I know it would remove reflections, but what about the lights ? (P.S. sorry for hijacking this thread about this) Ninja |
