Default Re-Painting with Movement

I was recently on a cruise aboard the Carnival Conquest and would spend my morning walking around the ship taking various photos (while folks were asleep). I have been working on trying to "see" the shot and push my right brain outside its limits. The main atrium was an 8 story tall atrium with 4 to 5 floors of a huge wall painting across from glass elevators. As I got on the elevator I thought it would be interesting to shoot the wall painting. The movement of the elevators prevent a "good" photo, so I just extended my exposure time and went for the abstract view. To get the shot, I pressed the camera against the elevator glass, and rode the elevator up and down several times getting a new exposure for each pass. I took more than 20 shots, but like this one the best. Note: the red and white on the right side is a huge American flag that was hanging in the center of the atrium.

Wow, I really like this. The colors and the abstract feel to it. Great idea!!!

I'll not comment on the artistic aspect of it as I simply don't really like or 'get' abstract stuff too well.

Just on a technical side (yeah yeah heh) you can see stuff reflected in the glass which makes it obvious you were shooting through glass. Were you to want to put this on your wall others may notice this. Are you sure you were flush against the glass? If so, it was probably double paned glass then.

Still, I think the thought

That is really cool! I have been seeing these types of abstract photo's pop up in Flickr occasionally, but the colors in your image are so much nicer than what I have seen in the past! I will have to give this abstract blurr thing a try in the future!

@ Big Fuzzy,

Thanks for feedback. Actually, I am not into the abstract either. It really made my right brain hurt to do it and my left brain was really confused. I did not catch the reflection, but it was really thick elevator glass, so it does not surprise me. The camera was flush against the glass. This shot was really different from anything else I have done...

@ Southern Composition,

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Per my comment to Big Fuzzy, this was really out of the norm for me. It was fun and I would like to try and do some more...
