Another high speed day!!!

Well all this started with a boring day and a sudden stumble on high speed DIY photography.
To cut the long story short

Simple and easy construction, I kept myself occupied by doing the full monty (drawing and etching the circuit board myself). The parts are easily available in any electric spares store and can be put together (etching and all) in under a day. The concept is simple, there is a microphone and a preamp and the mic picks up any sound (like a drop of water falling on the container or in my case a huge lemon thundering into the water) and the sound is amplified by the preamp and signals the trigger that sends a flash of power to an LED. An optical slave is taped to the LED and is connected to the flash via cable. I set the flash to trigger at 1/128th and that gives a speed of over 1/30000th of a second or so speed.

I set the camera to expose for 5 seconds in dim darkness (i had a small light to help me direct the lemon, and if you place it correctly and if your lens is shielded with a hood it doesn't affect the final outcome) and every time I dropped the lemon into the glass the flash would trigger.

I have to warn though, this was a simple production of a really boring day at home, however I would be glad to mail the circuit etching diagram and a simple how to [jezeeem@gmail.com] (beyond the scope of this article
