Default Strawberry Plop!

Strawberry Pop!
  • Where Was it Taken?
    Kitchen Sink!

  • What settings did you use?
    Focal Length: 55 mm
    Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
    Aperture: f/5.6
    ISO: 100

  • What gear (camera, lens etc) did you use?
    Camera: Canon EOS 400D Digital
    Lens: 18-55mm Kit Lens
    Flash: 430EX II
    Diffuser: Gary Fong Lightsphere Collapsible

  • How did you compose the shot
I set up a piece of white A4 paper behind a perspex dish. The flash is on a wireless transmitter/.receiver. Flash with diffuser at 5 O'clock position. I set the flash at 1/16th power.

  • What post production work have you done on the shot (if any)?
I slightly tweaked the colour of the strawberry, as it was getting a bit old!

  • Issues along the way
Had massive problems dropping the strawberry by hand and timing the splash just right. I held the fruit just above the water to set the focus point before lifting the fruit for the drop. After about 50 shots I finally got one in focus, with the splash just right. Any advice as to a better way this can be done would be appreciated!

I reckon it could be done, might get a bit of Over exposure with the water, but placing a piece of white paper in front of the flash should help diffuse the light.
