Arrow Stourton Weir

I took this pic on a day out with a friend of mine after we decided to do a photowalk along a canal. Taking a slight detour, I stumbled across this weir completely by accident. My friend wanted to learn how to shoot water like this so I set up my kit and took this one.

snapixel

Canon 24-105 L @ 24mm
Aperture f/22
Shutter 10 seconds
8 x Neutral Density Filter
Tripod essential of course.

Really nice shot, and good use of a strong ND filter to work with daylight and slow shutter speeds, TFS

Cool composition and processing, but I would have wanted the waterfall to be in focus, instead I see the foreground bank and grass sharp. Maybe its just the web-compression that makes it look like that.

It is compressed a lot for the web, but the pic is pin sharp all over. Remember that the waterfall is captured with a long exposure to capture movement in the water so it will not be sharp like you would see if it was a fast shutter speed where it freeze-frames the water. I did take one of those shots and it didn't look anywhere as nice or serene.
