Default Image Zoom

Hey guys, I was digging though old pictures and came across this one. It slowly grew on me, and now suddenly I really like it! haha, it's kind of a mysterious subject...

Just a combine or something laying in a field. I took it at 1/100 and quickly zoomed into the image as I rolled over the shutter.

You need a about 1/2 - 1 sec minimum shutter time. Zoom in to the subject on your slr and then press the button to take picture. And within that 1/2 - 1 sec shutter time, zoom out on your camera while keeping your camra still. It's pretty simple really.

Or you can use photoshop

well that's exactly what i did, and what i get as a result its u can see the object previously (let's say i zoom in first and i zoom out during the picture) so u see the subject zoomed in and u see right on that subject the same subject but zoomed out....i hope its clear lol and nothing similar to your picture

I did one recently in the St. Louis City Art Park with a very slow shutter. It was at night and there is this fountain that has under lights that change every few seconds. I asked a friend to stand really still and this is the end result. For a much different effect!

and one of just the building and the lights

All I know is that you need a really steady camera and a really really really steady zooming hand. I thought these particular shot weren't what hey could have been but they were th best out of about 40 tries and a friend that was tired of standing still! I notice now that my lense was covered in mist from the fountain by the time I got the building shot, there are all sorts of speks on it.

I love this effect though, I have seen it used countless time and they make for a very dramatic effect.

good post!
