Default Kent Homestead, HDR

Abandoned homestead along Oregon's Highway 97, just south of the town of Kent.

This is a single RAW file, processed in qtpfsgui with two different operators, then blended and adjusted in GIMP.

What is a qtpfsgui?

What is a qtpfsgui?
It is an open source interface for HDR imaging. I have never tried it, but I think it is popular.

cool picture!! i think those old places are hard to find... they always seem to tell some story.. wish there was more around my area.. i have yet to find some old place I could photograph w/o stepping on someones property... I like HDR

Great HDR! It really simple and not overdone, but it shows the greatness of HDR.

two different operators?

I've tried HDR images but I have a hard time knowing what to adjust..???

Yes, qtpfsgui is an open source app for processing HDR and tonemapped images. It uses 'operators' that can be adjusted and downloaded as .jpegs for further editing. I took two of those operators, adjusted and downloaded them, and then layered and further adjusted in GIMP to get what you see here.

My goal with HDR/tonemapping is not for a surreal effect, but for an effect that's as close to the real thing as possible. Here's another shot I processed similarly that shows what I'm trying to accomplish:
