We have a long driveway with trees that catches lovely afternoon rays. I have tried to capture this type of shot and I think I nailed it this time.

I was shooting with a 50D and 70-200 2.8 IS,


Set the metering to spot so as to get her almost to pop out and completely darken what was not a very dark background. The burst of sunlight on that spot really worked a trick.

ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/2000 sec
Aperture: 3.2
Focal Length: 125mm

post process - nothing more than tampering with the levels a little in lightroom

notice the shoes on the opposite feet. 2 years old definitely the madam of the house!

Like the way the BG is black...Really makes her stand out...I'm not experienced enough to say whether you nailed it or not, but it looks good to me!

The metering definitely emphasises her due to the dark background. I like the composition though I don't really get a "motion/action" feel from it.
