Hello MrBeta, the flash was not diffused.

It's great to see everyone's examples! Keep them coming!

Any advice appreciated.

I don't know if it would be camera limitations, any camera will focus. Mainly it would be your distance from the subject plays a big part on how a camera focuses. The wider the aperture the better. I would try to set manual focus on what you think is reasonable clarity, then slowly move the camera closer or farther from your focus point to see if it gets any clearer.

Wow, thanks for the tips PowerPix. I hope you don't mind me posting my attempt at it. You really need to look at the FULL SIZE version. I took these outside in bright shade - no flash.

Thanks for sharing the tutorial. I have been wanting to try this and you made it sound so easy I think I might give it a go. Great shots!

Not a problem at all! This can be the trial thread to share our progression. Couldn't help but chuckle at "Bright shade" . I know what you mean...

Nice work!

Thanks PowerPix I will give tht a go. The distance from subject seems to certainly be the issue. As I increased magnification the minimum distance I needed to focus increased ...e g I needed to pull back from the sink a little more.

Haven't had time to give it another go yet but will do so soon

Cheers

Pete
