Default Portrait of Paris (Not France or Hilton!)

Fill light was above the camera, behind the camera and slightly off to the viewer's left. The main light was also camera left, two stops more than what the fill light meter reading was. It was about three feet away from Paris and nearly beside her. The hair light was above her, and behind her, aimed down and forward. It was at the same meter reading as the fill light. The kicker was at camera right rear positioned so it would just skim across her dark hair, but not encroach onto her cheek or nose. It was one stop under the fill light reading. Background illumination was from the "excess" fill light. If you position the fill light so it is level, it will add some illumination to the background. If you angle it down it will not.

Wow. Sounds like you know your lighting. Wish i understood it that well. And you proved it with a very nice portrait. Well Done

Excelent as always. I enjoyed reading your "portrait rules" post over on Photcamel. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and experience.

Great Portrait...that is the look I have been looking for. Would it be possible to provide a lighting or setup floorplan. What kind of modifiers were you using? Once again, love the shot... Ron Cain

x2

And thank you for describing lighting setup, it helps with learning how to deconstruct lighting so we can recreate it on our own.
