Default It was a piece of cake...

...er pie.

We were at a birthday party today at church and they brought out this wonderful homemade Pecan Pie.

Well, the pastor; who is also the father in law to the person who made the pie, was off teaching at a conference so he totally missed the party. Which was a shame because the pie was exactly the way he likes it. (Just a little browner than normal.)

So I ran over to my house(next door), grabbed my camera, macro lens, and a little bit of white fabric that I just happen to have, and composed this shot on the fly just so that I can let him know and the rest of my Facebook friends, what he missed. :

Pecan Pie
It was delicious! And I have decided to change some of the things that are in my carry everywhere bag. I am going to add some white and black fabric to my bag to serve as quickie backdrops. As well as remove an extra lens.

The setup was my D300, my 50mm macro lens, SB-600 flash, 3 yards of white satin fabric that is waiting for me to make a light tent...someday , two books(pew Bibles) to serve as a "hump" for the background part of the fabric..and a china plate...we were using paper plates, but I wanted to dress it up. .

Exif:

Angle of shot was about 30-45.
Aperture was f8 to get all of the pie in.
Shutter was 1/60 no time to get fancy...there was pie to eat!
ISO was on 500 (oops, I forgot to drop it back down, I wondered why there was a little grain in the nether regions.)
Flash set on manual. To soften the shadows, it was fired straight up in relation to the plate; to the camera, it was a angled back a little.
White balance was not a concern, (even though I was using flash and there were florescent lights for the room lights) because I shoot in RAW.

Lightroom beta 3 was behind the PP...I can't wait for the finished product comes out. It does a great job!

Next time I do this, I am going to work on getting some of the sharp wrinkles out of the frame, but it served the need this time.
